Ultrasound Techs

Prenatal Care: Whether you have a low risk pregnancy or a more complicated high risk pregnancy, we work with you to optimize your pregnancy outcome.  We offer the full range of screening testing options, including genetic testing, Down Syndrome screening, diabetic screening, etc.  We would like your birth experience to be both enjoyable and safe.  We are happy to discuss your wishes and answer your questions throughout the prenatal care process.

Gynecologic Care: We care for patients from early adolescence through the menopause years and beyond.  We provide complete annual wellness care (pap smears, cholesterol screening, bone density, etc.).  We also are available for any gynecological problem you may be encountering.  We try our best to get a patient with a new problem in to see a health care provider as soon as possible.

Ultrasound: We have two new state-of-the art ultrasound machines with 3D capabilities.  Our ultrasound technicians have both been with us for almost 20 years.  Their expertise is exceptional.

Bone Density Scan (DEXA): We have a new, up-to-date bone density machine.  This enhanced form of an x-ray will tell you if you are losing or maintaining your bone as you approach or go through menopause.  We then use a FRAX assessment to help you understand your risk for future bone fracture.  This test can also be used to monitor your treatment for osteopenia or osteoporosis.

Laboratory: We have a Quest Diagnostics phlebotomist on site at both of our offices for your convenience.  This allows us to perform screening lab work (i.e. cholesterol, thyroid) or diagnostic lab work (hormone testing, etc.) with ease.

Colposcopy: This procedure is used for patients with certain types of abnormal pap smears.  It allows us a magnified view of the cervix such that we can note any abnormal areas and take biopsies.  The biopsies will help us determine what further treatment a patient needs after an abnormal pap.  See FAQ for more information.

LEEP: (loop electrosurgical excision procedure): This is an procedure in which an abnormal area of the cervix is removed (after an abnormality is noted on a pap smear and colposcopy).  It allows us to send a specimen to the pathologist for further evaluation of the degree of the abnormality so that we can determine the best course of treatment for you.  It also allows us to ensure we were able to remove the entire area where the abnormal cells lie.  This is done right in our office with local anesthesia.  See FAQ for further information.

Urodynamics: This office procedure helps us more accurately diagnose what kind of incontinence a patient might have.  A catheter is placed in the patient’s bladder in order to fill the bladder.  Then we can test things like: how much your bladder can hold, different pressures in your bladder and urethra. The results of this testing can help us determine the most appropriate treatment for you.

Minimally Invasive Surgery: In the past, the most common treatment for abnormal bleeding and other gynecological issues was abdominal hysterectomy.  Now, there are several other treatment options available such as:

  • Novasure endometrial ablation http://www.novasure.com
  • Laparoscopic hysterectomy
  • Vaginal hysterectomy
  • Laparoscopic removal of ovarian cysts or ovaries

Our doctors are all trained in these minimally invasive procedures and will continue to look for and new and improved ways to treat old problems.

Infertility work-up/treatment: “Infertility” is defined as one year of unprotected intercourse without achieving pregnancy.   In patients over 35, that time frame is decreased to six months.  If this applies to you, please make an appointment to come see us.  We understand that difficulty in getting pregnant is one of the hardest things a couple can go through, and we would like to help you.  We offer laboratory and x-ray work-up as needed and can start treating you, depending on your situation.  We have an excellent referral network for our patients that need the help of an infertility specialist.

Botox/Juvederm: We are introducing these aesthetic treatments to our practice, again for our patients’ convenience.  These treatments can be used to temporarily smooth away wrinkles and folds in the skin.  See: http://www.botoxcosmetic.com/index.aspx   http://www.juvederm.com/default.aspx
